YMCA OF SUPERIOR CALIFORNIA 2011 ANNUAL REPORT

DEAR FRIENDS

Strengthening the community...making a positive impact...developing our youth... these are statements you hear often around the YMCA and they reflect what we did in 2011, and have done since our founding 145 years ago. We had a great year in 2011 and we are pleased to share it with you in this annual report to the community.

Throughout our four service areas we experienced another positive year of growth in the number of people involved in our programs. In fact we served 16,913 people which was a 41% increase. We are especially pleased to report that the number of youth and teens served increased to 12,176 and the number of seniors involved in healthy programming grew to 1,615.

Our Y has a strong commitment to the community to ensure that everyone that wants to participate has the opportunity. Almost one of every four individuals involved in a Y program receive assistance through our Y-Assist
program. Last year we provided $495,585 in financial assistance. That’s almost half a million dollars invested back into the community for kids and families.

In 2011 we implemented a couple of new programs that are highlighted in this report. First is YMCA Healthy Kids, a physical activity and nutrition program aimed at combating childhood obesity. Second is the Court Waiting Room program, a partnership with the Superior Court System of Sacramento that serves hundreds of families each month and saves the court system thousands of dollars.

We are blessed with some amazing volunteers and we are extremely grateful for their involvement with our Y. And to the individuals, business and organizations that entrust us with their charitable dollars, you have our deepest thanks.

At our Y we are clear about our mission; it is about serving people of all faiths and ages in the community to build spirit, mind and body. We do this with a focus of nurturing the positive development of youth, advocating for healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

We appreciate your involvement in the life of our local Y and look forward to your continued support in the coming year.
